Anesthesia
Our surgeons offer a full range of anesthetic options to fit your needs. Whether you need local anesthesia, intravenous sedation, or general anesthesia all our doctors place your safety and comfort as their highest priority. Depending on your medical history or type of surgery, a pre-operative consult may be required to assess your fitness for the anesthesia, review the procedure, and work with your dentist and physician in coordinating care. Practicing in a modern and safe environment with the anesthesia team model, OSA has set the standard for our community.
While any dentist requires certification by the State of Maine to offer sedation and anesthesia services, only OSA has gone the extra mile to achieve accredited status by The Joint Commission as an office-based surgery center. This means that our practice has developed and implemented safeguards and protocols to minimize your risk as a patient in our facility. OSA has maintained this prestigious status continuously since 2006 and remains one of the very few practices in New England committed to this rigorous process.
We understand concerns about post-operative pain control and will work with you to find the best approach to control your pain after surgery. While many of our patients find that over the counter (OTC) medications work well, we offer a multitude of alternatives if other methods are needed. Your comfort is central to our philosophy of patient-centered care, and our team will help you determine the most appropriate post-operative pain control for your situation.
